Welcome to the Mabelie Square Meaters Site. We are a small stud based at Narromine in NSW Australia.

STUD HISTORY

Mabelie Square Meaters Stud was established in 2004, with the careful selection of some magnificent cows and heifers from Rainbow Stud and Thurloo Park. These females were selected for pedigree, structural correctness, and fertility. We then added Brinsley Alchemy (AI) to our breeding program for his excellent phenotype and genotype. After two seasons with Alchemy and two good drops of heifers, we have added Brinsley Zambezi to our breeding program, we are extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to own such a good quality bull. We aim to breed true to type seed stock for the discerning stud and commercial breeder focusing on economically important traits.

1. Fertile, easy calving females with Optimal Milk Production

2. Low Birth weight and Rapid Early Growth Rate

3. Structural Correctness for Longevity in both Bulls and Females

4. Production of profitable cattle

Steer Success at Sydney Royal Show 2009

Mabelie Too Moo was entered in the Lightweight School Steer Class at Sydney this year and received a highly commended on the hoof, unfortunately he was well and truly underdone with only 2mm of Rib Fat. We were still pleased with the carcase results as dressed out at 59.9%, had a EMA of 81cm and B+ Muscle Score at 10 months of age.

Steer Success at Canberra Royal Show 2009

Mabelie Darius came 3rd in the Medium Weight Class (341 - 440kg) at the Canberra Royal Show 2009.He weighted 383kg at 10.75 months old (416kg before he left for the show) and had a fat cover of 7mm on the rump and 6mm on the Rib, an EMA of 81cm and dressed out at 60.6%.

He was the 3rd top priced steer overall at the auction receiving $2.96/kg liveweight

These steers are both sired by Brinsley Alchemy (AI)-pictured below exhibiting the wonderful carcase characteristics he passes onto his progeny.

2010 "F" CALVES

We have broken in our "F" heifers and here are a few photos of them after their first bath, blowdry and clip. It was a pretty rough job as I HATE these jobs in the middle of winter when it is cold, but they were beautifully behaved and are ready to show soon. They are not the best photos of them but they pretty much had enough after all the primping and preening.

Mollys' Surprise aged 6.5 months.... She was a surprise, as it wasn't a planned joining but we are very glad to have her in the herd! She will be joined to Zambezi at joining age. She has also been broken in, but I ran out of time and she avoided the clippers.......for now...
