Spring 2011

We have calves on the ground! All bull calves by Brinsley Zambezi, in both silver and grey. We are excited! After a couple of years of mostly heifers, we are happy to have some top quality bulls on the ground.. Zambezi is in his 7th year and it is good to have some bull prospects to carry on the line. Updates and photos soon....................... We have dispersed our herd! See the sales page for full details about the dispersal.

Winter 2011

Stud news has been relatively quiet since last year as we are busy looking after our newest addition Toby. We have weaned our spring heifer calves and have broken them to halter, they are available for private sale, if unsold we will be showing them at our local show this spring and then onto the Dubbo Beef Spectacular in 2012. They will be AI'ed to either Brinsley Alchemy or Woolaringa Extra this spring.

After flooding rains last spring and summer, our district has once again gone into a frustrating dry spell.......we're getting used to it!

My motivation for a return to the show ring is my wonderful cow Lizzy having a beautiful grey bull calf (by Zambezi) this week, she has never had a bad bull calf and he will fit into the junior class for Dubbo next year. We have high hopes for this little fellow. Her bull calf from last year, Faroh F1 weighed in at 420kg at 11 months old straight out of the paddock with no grain or supplementary feeding at all! Faroh is a full brother so we are looking for similar performance out of her latest addition.

Roelf and Glennister De Koning (Argio Park Square Meaters) came to visit us on their way home to Glencoe South Australia after a 5800km round trip to buy Square Meaters in Queensland. We were pleased to find out that Mabelie Cassius (Vesco Yes Man - Rainbow Lizzy) has been doing a wonderful job for them, siring some beautiful heifers that they have successfully shown in SA. These heifers will be retained by them and put into their breeding program. Cassius is frame score 4 bull who now weighs 900kg and the De Konings' have a lineup of people waiting to buy Cassius when they have finished with him.

We are now waiting til spring for our cows to calve with all the calves due by Brinsley Zambezi, Zambezi is rising 7 this year and is still in excellent health, his feet are text book perfect and his temperament is the best of any bull I have ever handled. Deb Cotter from Brinsley Stud contacted us to let us know that his dam, WAC Brave Harmonica had just calved twin heifers at 17 years of age!! There is definitely longevity in his breeding!! I am looking forward to the calves and seeing how last years drop progress over the next couple of months...............

Keep checking back, as soon as the weather gets sunny we will take some photos of the cattle and post on here. Maybe even some photos of new calves in the next couple of months........
